MUSICIANS HELPING MUSICIANS

Musicians Helping Musicians is a non-profit organization dedicated to doing exactly what it sounds like. Musicians Helping Musicians.
With no strong union, and no employer health care or other benefits, most musicians are not prepared to handle the expense of medical emergencies.
That's why, in April 1995, MHM began a series of musical benefits to build an medical economic relief fund for musicians. The response from the musical community has been overwhelming. In one night alone, at the Inn of the Beginning and the Tradewinds in Cotati, California, over 25 bands played to capacity houses. The audiences were amazed as band after band came on for 15 minute sets. The talent was the best in the San Francisco North Bay and included Sarah Baker, Michael Bolivar, Terry Haggerty, Chris Hayes, (from Huey Lewis), Steve Kimock, Michael Barclay, the Bronze Hog, Blair Hardman's Jazz Party, Uncle Wiggly and countless others. More benefits are planned for the summer at the same venues, but we expect to move to larger halls by next year.
MHM was conceived by Frank Hayhurst, owner of Zone Music in Cotati, and is run by the MHM Board of Directors, which includes ten prominent local musicians and community figures. Any offers to aid in our efforts should be directed to:

In the immediate future Musicians Helping Musicians will be able to aid
specific individuals and families through some difficult times. But our long
range goals are much more than that. Through organizing a pool of people,
and partially funding that pool, we think we can get affordable health care
insurance for hundreds of currently uncovered individuals. And we can build
and sustain the idea that just because we're artists doesn't mean we have
to live on the edge.
